Although to clean the basket, I had to scrub it pretty good with the brush that's provided with the machine. This juicer did not meet my expectations at all. So, as I stated in my title - Not bad.not that great.but just okay. I originally chose another Breville before I bought this one for cheaper, but now I'm not sure about getting my first choice.
I bought this one at a major warehouse retailer for a good price. I am a first timer with the juicing thing and I didn't want to invest a bunch of money at first. The blades had a hard time even cutting through the carrots. They did better than the carrots, but I still had the pump the insert to get them to juice.
Celery did fine, except for the large chunks as well. I honestly thought it would plow through carrots and apples like nothing, but it did not. I tried pushing harder, softer, but it didn't really help. So, I ended up pumping the insert that goes into the mouth to get the machine to juice the carrots. I bought this juicer based on the good reviews.
With both the carrots and the apples, there were big chunks that flew into the pulp container. This did not seem right to me, even though I'm new at this. Oranges, pineapple, and grapefruit did okay too. I also found that a lot of the pulp stuck to the chute where it supposed to go into the container.I just took this back today and now am looking at some others. I was afraid I was going to burn up the motor with the carrots.I could not fit a whole apple down the chute, either, which is fine because my apples were very large. All the reviews I've read about Breville juicers have been great, so I took the plunge and bought this one. Because of the fact that my hubby and I want to juice fast and detox, and will be juicing quite a bit, I really want something better than what this machine puts out.
It also seemed as if the machine was bogging down with the carrots. I cut them into quarters and fed them into the machine. On the good side, it does make great tasting juice, sounds like a jet engine, and is relatively easy to clean. It's an average machine.
I tried it right away and, frankly, was not impressed. My Moline 104 Juicer broke down this morning after almost 10 years of use. Considering the price, the quality just did not measure up - light plastic (part of the top cover came in chipped right out of the box), juice splatters all over the countertop, lots of juice left in the pulp. I use a juicer at least three times a week to make a vegetable juice (for the most part, beets, carrots, celery, parsley, green peppers). I needed a replacement and I bought this model because it looked like the only decent model available at the local stores. I am returning it. Will be contacting Moline Customer Service - turns out, their juicer has 15 year warranty.
The 800JEXL is mostly made out of stainless steel. The juice collector that holds the filter is made out of plastic but no where on the juicer or in the manual does it indicate what kind of plastic it is. We bought this juicer for $99 off of Costco's website. Not all plastic #7 contain BPA but could.
However, I got concerned one day about the plastic. I think other reviewers have covered pretty much everything about this juicer. I confirmed with the company that the juice collector (or bowl) for that model is made out of stainless steel. But I don't want to take the chance on a #7 when it comes to something we're using everyday. I called the company and they didn't know.
And of course, the filter is too. The wear and tear also increases the chances that chemicals will leak out of it. Great price and great juicer. There's just no way to know. So they checked with their technical team and called me back the next day to tell me that it was plastic #7.
If you are concerned about BPA, then you might want to avoid this juicer and get the more expensive model, the Breville 800JEXL. I guess I should have asked Breville but didn't. So, we're going to be returning this model and getting the stainless steel one.In case you're wondering, I didn't check on what kind of plastic the jug is made out of because we usually juice directly into our drinking glasses.
so much faster to juice up. it made my old juice looks like a joke. this thing works so well. the waste container is so big that you dont have to keep emptying it if you are doing lots of juicing at the same time. breville is very reliable and it is the best appliances i have tried for many years.it does what it says. i am so happy with it. it doesnt really fit a whole big apple but it is much bigger than other brands.really good stuff. i should have bought it long time ago.
After serious resarch I decided to purchase it a week ago. I never thught that juicing could be this easy and fast. This machine is everything the manufacturer claims it to be, and then some. This is my first juicer the truth.it's worth every penny. Strong motor w/o much noise easy to clean. I love the quality construction, and simplicity of this machine, and recommended to anyone interested in becoming a juicer. I give it seven stars.
